Day 26

Oatmeal, like coffee, only works two ways for me: It must be tooth-rottingly dessert sweet, or completely untouched by sugar in any form. This time I ate it with a little 1% milk and a bunch of cinnamon.

Pine nuts are so good. I love them. Love love love.

Made rice the way my dad used to when I was a kid. Basmati rice browned with a little smoked turkey sausage and a chopped red onion, then steamed with a bunch of broccoli and seasonings. It was awesome.

For dinner, I drank 1/3 of this chocolate malt. Good god, that's a lot of sugar! I gave the rest to hubby. I traded for a couple of his tater tots.

We went to the grocery store tonight, so I have a ton of fresh veggies and fruit in the house again. Yay, a break from constant carbs! I'd still KILL for a cup of coffee, though.

Day 25

Breakfast sandwiches are healthier if you make them yourself, right? Two eggs and a lean sausage patty on a whole wheat bun.

Oops, forgot lunch. Almonds to the rescue!

Late lunch was some veggie soup with navy beans and a slice of buttered toast.

Broiled seasoned chicken breast with jasmine rice, chopped tomato and more homemade tzatziki. I could eat this every damn day. x)

Day 24

Skipped breakfast again. When hubby brought hamburgers home for lunch, I didn't complain.

Made a simple cornbread and crab salad with yogurt-based dressing and tomatoes, cucumber, and feta cheese.

And... well, I really like gin. Extra lime, please.

I still miss coffee.

Day 23

Was a bit late for breakfast so I made a wrap and yogurt with blueberries and honey.

Bill made oatmeal later so I had a little of that, too...

Then I waited too long to make dinner and was hungry enough to heat up leftover shells from a few days ago. Sure doesn't look as appetizing as it did then, but it tasted good. What a terrible picture!

For dinner, homemade tzatziki (I made it with low-fat yogurt and light sour cream to make up for the olive oil) with greek-seasoned grilled chicken and tomatoes. There was steamed rice on the side but I didn't eat very much of it, since it was pretty superfluous. I was super-full even without eating the rice. I made the triangular flatbread myself from an old vegetarian cookbook. It was tasty while it was still hot/warm, not so much once it was cold, but only one piece lived to the cold stage so it all worked out.

Day 22

Egg and bacon frowny-face (hubby was being a turkey so I made it this way especially for him).

Then he shared his chocolate bar with me later, so he was mostly forgiven.

He loves barley in soup, maybe a little TOO much. I made this with a little leftover hamburger, veggies and some quick-cooking barley for lunch.

We DID have dinner, and I DID take a picture of it, but I deleted it from my camera thinking that I'd already sent it to myself. It was a venison stew with navy beans, vegetables and potatoes. I was pretty weirded out eating deer so I didn't eat very much of it. I made up for it by drinking a couple gin and tonics and pouring one out for Bambi's mom.
