Day 23

Was a bit late for breakfast so I made a wrap and yogurt with blueberries and honey.

Bill made oatmeal later so I had a little of that, too...

Then I waited too long to make dinner and was hungry enough to heat up leftover shells from a few days ago. Sure doesn't look as appetizing as it did then, but it tasted good. What a terrible picture!

For dinner, homemade tzatziki (I made it with low-fat yogurt and light sour cream to make up for the olive oil) with greek-seasoned grilled chicken and tomatoes. There was steamed rice on the side but I didn't eat very much of it, since it was pretty superfluous. I was super-full even without eating the rice. I made the triangular flatbread myself from an old vegetarian cookbook. It was tasty while it was still hot/warm, not so much once it was cold, but only one piece lived to the cold stage so it all worked out.

Day 22

Egg and bacon frowny-face (hubby was being a turkey so I made it this way especially for him).

Then he shared his chocolate bar with me later, so he was mostly forgiven.

He loves barley in soup, maybe a little TOO much. I made this with a little leftover hamburger, veggies and some quick-cooking barley for lunch.

We DID have dinner, and I DID take a picture of it, but I deleted it from my camera thinking that I'd already sent it to myself. It was a venison stew with navy beans, vegetables and potatoes. I was pretty weirded out eating deer so I didn't eat very much of it. I made up for it by drinking a couple gin and tonics and pouring one out for Bambi's mom.

Day 18

I got up early to read and mixed some plain yogurt with a spoonful of strawberry freezer jam and honey...

But then hubby woke up and made breakfast for everyone, so I ate that too. Two strips of bacon, a dozen "hash browns" (lawl, tots) and two eggs rather marginally cooked. Not my fault this time.

Lunch: Vegetable beef soup with extra peas, half a tuna on rye with a slice of cheese and some lettuce, and baby dills.

Then I read some more and ate a candy. My husband is not one to forgo the buying of sweets just because I'm trying to eat better, which is unfortunate and very tempting when he brings home stuff like this. Sometimes I do better than others.

Dinner: Beef pot roast with onion, carrot, and green beans over rice.

And later, while on a marathon run of Bones on Netflix, a glass of Johnnie Walker and some jalapeno flavored tortilla chips. They didn't really go together so I drank first and ate later. ;)

Day 17

Breakfast: Leftover peanut chicken (yum).

Lunch: Romaine, tomatoes, carrots, chickpeas and balsamic dressing. And a leftover spring roll. Which, well, looks an awful lot like a... Oh hey, what's that? Over there behind you?

Hmm, musta just been a shadow. Anyway, I had a glass of reisling before dinner.

Then I had a bowl of beef sauteed with mushrooms and onions in a soup-based sauce, served with shell pasta. Then I had seconds.

Day 16: Mmm, Takeout

Okay! Back to actual logging of food.

The "oops-I-forgot-breakfast" snack of pine nuts, right out of the bag. Yum.

Why are they so good? They're creamy and sweet and crisp, I guess that's why.

Then a sandwich happened! Slow-cooked BBQ chicken, on plain ol' wheat bread. Baked chips and fruit cocktail on the side. I don't think I'll buy an industrial sized can of fruit again without a real good reason!

Then... we ordered takeout. Om nom.

Three dumplings with sauce:

Peanut chicken. It is not good for you. It is delicious. It is a shame. Crisp chicken breast smothered in a sweet peanutbutter-based sauce with sesame seed garnish. Also a spring roll on the side.

A few hours later I had a little of hubby's kung pao chicken. It had a ton of celery and was served with fried rice.

Day 15: Ultimate Slacker

This is the only food pic I took today. Breakfast was leftover cabbage soup with buttered rye toast. It was delicious.

Day 14

I didn't take pictures of everything. It was one of those couch-sitting snacky days, I guess. I ate a lot of soup and toast! x)

Skipped breakfast, ate a nice big salad for lunch. Romaine, tomatoes, chickpeas, a little smoked salmon, some garlic croutons I found leftover from when my parents were visiting, and a little sprinkle of salted sunflower seeds with mom's balsamic dressing.

Dinner: Cabbage soup made with smoked turkey sausage, mini shell pasta and onion sauteed with bacon. It made a boatload of soup!

I'm sure there was an ice cream bar for dessert among other things. I didn't feel much like bothering with the camera for them though.

Day 13

Breakfast: I was saved from leftovers by this single egg and 3 slices of bacon.

Lunch: I was not saved this time. One leftover plain baked potato with a spoon of light sour cream and some leftover ground beef.

Leftover brownie? I know. I'm just going to keep using this picture until the whole pan is empty.

I opened the bag of pine nuts while I was chopping up some pesto by hand. The basil in my yard is so good, y'all.

Dinner: Angel hair with pesto I made fresh from my own garden and sweet peas. I was so full after eating this, you have no idea.

I think tomorrow I'm just going to eat salads.

Day 12: In Which I Lie About Brownies and Must Correct Myself

Bad-girl breakfast always starts with one of these:

Then bad-girl makes the dad in her house a batch of blueberry pancakes (his favorite) and eats a pile of them for second breakfast:

After a while there's a bad-girl snack:

...then a burger on rye for what we'll call "lunch." With baked chips and bread & butter pickles.

Then bad-girl dessert.

They're so much better with this wine. Oh my.

Oh my. Oh my, oh my. Yum.

And then the father of the day wants a baked potato, so bad-girl has one too. With sour cream and salt and a little butter and a slice of bacon.

This is why I'm not allowed to bake brownies.
